Island Transit Whidbey Base Facility
ProDims’ cost estimators developed construction cost estimates for five buildings at Island Transit’s Whidbey Base Facility: Administration, Operations, Bus Maintenance/Parts, Fueling, and Wash Rack. The work covered conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and contract documents. The scope also included extensive site development: heavy paving for bus operations, drainage facilities to protect groundwater, site utilities, and improvements supporting the new buildings. At design development, ProDims prepared cost-reduction and alternative proposals to align the scope with available funding and the allowable construction cost. Groundbreaking near Coupeville, Washington, took place in April 2012. The $22.4 million project was completed in 2014, replacing an outdated facility with a 15,400 SF administration building and a 34,700 SF maintenance facility, alongside the other support buildings.
